Grand In Your Hand Official Rules

92.5 The chief AND GFI Digital PRESENT: GRAND IN YOUR HAND!  Starting September 15 THROUGH October 10, 2014 … Listen weekdays FROM approximately 9am to 3pm, up to two times a day, for the “GRAND IN YOUR HAND” text word.  When you hear the specified contest word you must text the correctly spelled word to 77000. Text entries for each contest play will be accepted until 10 minutes after the hour, of each specific contest episode. 92-5 THE CHIEF may choose to announce a contest word more than one time during the permitted window, but there is no obligation to announce the word multiple times in any single contest play or in subsequent contest plays. Message and data rates may apply. One text per play.

92-5 THE CHIEF will conduct this contest concurrently and simultaneously with radio stations affiliated with 92-5 THE CHIEF, and in various states.  Listeners of 92-5 THE CHIEF will, therefore, be competing with listeners of other radio stations to win the same prize. A station will be chosen at random from all the participating radio stations. Then a text received by that station will be chosen at random.  The cell phone number from the chosen text will be called and the reaction recorded for broadcast.  If unable to speak with the contestant who sent the text, within 5 minutes from the time that contestant’s cell number is dialed, then the ONE-THOUSAND DOLLAR prize will be forfeited and another random text will be chosen with the same procedure until a winner is determined. When prompted by text message, listener must join the 92-5 THE CHIEF text club to be eligible for the $10,000 grand prize.  $5,000 will be awarded to the Grand Prize winner and $5,000 awarded to the Grand Prize winner’s charity of choice.  Charity is defined as “a non profit organization recognized as exempt from federal income tax; for example, under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code (eligibility to receive tax deductible charitable contributions.)  92-5 THE CHIEF reserves the right, in its unlimited discretion to determine whether a designated Charity is exempt from federal income taxation and may require winner to designate a different Charity.  92-5 THE CHIEF may also require the winner to provide documents to support such claim of tax exempt status.

Listeners can ensure their membership in the text club by texting “chief” to 77000.  All text club members as of October 10, 2014 AT 3:30PM are eligible for the grand prize.  After 3:30PM October 10 a grand prize winner station will be chosen at random from all participating radio stations. Then a text club member from that station will be chosen at random.  The cell phone number from the chosen text will be called and the reaction recorded for broadcast.  If unable to speak with the text club member, within 5 minutes from the time that contestant’s cell number is dialed, then the $10,000 grand prize will be forfeited and another random text member will be chosen with the same procedure until a winner is determined.  92-5 THE CHIEF is not responsible for any difficulties contacting THE STATION or entering the Contest, any malfunctions or errors, whether technical or typographical or human error, experienced due to overload, internet availability or texting server issues. Text messages are sent through third party providers; 92-5 THE CHIEF does not guarantee, and shall not be responsible for, the delivery or timeliness of any text message entry. 92-5 THE CHIEF contests are open to all eligible persons IN THE CHAMPAIGN-URBANA AND EAST CENTRAL ILLINOIS AREA, 18 or older, only one winner per household. Any prize awarded to an ineligible listener will be deemed null and void, and an alternate eligible winner may be named. Contest participants should not rely on streamed broadcasts as they may be delayed from the on air broadcasts.

Employees of 92-5 THE CHIEF, THE ILLINI RADIO GROUP, and its ultimate parent company, Saga Communications, Inc., their advertising agencies, affiliates, contest sponsors, employees and immediate families of each, and employees of all media of mass communication within a one hundred mile radius of the 92-5 THE CHIEF main studio are not eligible to enter or win any contest.  Immediate family includes the spouse, great-grandparents, grandparents, parents, brothers, sisters, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren of the employee and his/her spouse. This also includes individuals for whom the employee is current legal guardian.
