Wife, son of late Bee Gees star Robin Gibb to release new music

The wife and son of late Bee Gees star Robin Gibb plan to release an album the singer had hoped to unveil before his death.

Gibb, who lost his cancer battle in 2012, hit the studio between 2006 and 2008 to record solo tracks for a planned project, titled “50 St. Catherine’s Drive” – the address of his birthplace on the Isle of Man in the U.K.

The album was never completed, but now Gibb’s wife Dwina and son R.J. have gathered the sessions and they’re releasing the best cuts together with demos the singer recorded in the summer of 2011.

Tracks feature his reworking of 1966 Bee Gees tune “I Am the World,” which served as a B-side for the group’s “Spicks and Specks” track.

Dwina Gibb tells Rolling Stone magazine, “He was always fond of this song and decided to record a new version for this album… It is now an extended version of the original.”
