Woman, 83, has ‘rap sheet’ dating back to 1952

RIVERSIDE, Calif. (AP) — It’s back to prison for 83-year-old Doris Payne.

She’s spent much of her life stealing stuff and has now been sentenced to another two years in the slammer.

The Los Angeles Times reports Payne pleaded guilty to swiping a diamond ring worth more than $22,000 from a jewelry store.

Prosecutors note Payne has a rap sheet dating back to 1952. In 2011 she was sentenced to 16 months for stealing a $16,000 ring.

At her sentencing yesterday, a judge also ordered Payne to serve two years under mandatory supervision and to stay away from jewelry stores.
