On Tap 1/31/14: Hazed and Infused

On Tap is brought to you by Rosati’s Pizza, 701 S. Gregory, Urbana.  217-328-2334

This week, I had planned to have a Super Bowl Themed On Tap, with a beer from Colorado and a beer from Washington go head to head… But I found one from Colorado… and I stopped there. Sorry.

So this week, we go to Colorado’s first craft brewery, Boulder Beer Company, for their Hazed and Infuzed Dry Hopped Ale.  I will add that I was thinking of watching the game when I picked this beer.  I was hoping for a beer that would be easy drinking and would go well in a crowd.  I think we got it right.

That being said, this comes off as a pretty standard hopped ale.  It’s not near as hoppy as I would have thought, but it’s not bad.  Shane called it lightly hopped, and I’ll agree.  Flavor wise, there isn’t a lot of kick to this.  You do have four different hop varieties to help give it a bit more complex flavor, but nothing that will leave you guessing.  At 5% ABV, this one won’t get you in too much trouble.  While this one didn’t wow anyone, we all agreed that it went down easy and we would each drink more than one.

Shane’s Rating:  5.0

Ryan’s Rating:  5.0

My Rating:  5.0

This is a middle of the road beer.  It’s good, well balanced, but just doesn’t ring a lot of bells.  Which could make it perfect for this Sunday.

Shane paired this up perfectly with Rosati’s Buffalo Chicken Pizza.  Order up one (or two, or three) of these, throw in some actual buffalo wings on the side, a 12 pack of Hazed and Infuzed, and you won’t go wrong this Sunday.
