On Tap 3/14/14: St. Patty’s Day Blowout Part 3

On Tap is brought to you by Rosati’s Pizza, 701 S. Gregory, Urbana.  217-328-2334.

To celebrate St. Patty’s Day, we’re going through a bunch of Irish Beers.  We’ve already hit up four Irish Reds.  (You can check them out here and here.)  But now, we’re combining Guiness with other beers.

So we start with the traditional Half and Half.  It’s half Harps Lager with Guiness poured over the top.  I’d never had one, but I was really surprised.  This seemed to be a bit smoother than either beer seperately.  Ryan gave it a 6, I gave it a 7, Shane gave it a 6.5.

By the way, here’s a pic of Ryan’s pouring skills so you can get an idea of what it’s supposed to look like.

half and half

Next up, another Guiness combo called a Black and Blue.  It’s Guiness poured over the top of a Blue Moon.  Man, this is a good combo.  It’s smooth, really, really smooth.  The sweetness and citrus from the Blue Moon just pairs really well the the fuller flavored Guiness.  We loved this combo.  Ryan gave this a 7, I gave it an 8 and Shane ended up giving this one a 9.  This one rocks.

Next up: Two more Guiness Combos
