We wrap up our St. Patty’s Day Blowout with two more Guiness combos.
First up, is Midnight in the Garden. It’s a Hoegaarden with Guiness poured over it. This was an odd bird. I was looking forward to it and felt a bit dissapointed. Ryan loved it and Shane was just ok with it. Hoegaarden by it’s self is a light, sweet/sout beer with some citrus going on. But when it mixed with the Guiness, for me any way, it lost something. It was a bit hard to describe. Ryan, who doesn’t really like the German beers really go into this combo. Shane and I gave it a 5 while Ryan gave it an 8.2. Definitely worth trying though.
How much did Ryan like it? He tried to get in on our guest’s beer.
I’d never had a Snakebite, but man, this won’t be my last. I really liked this. But then again, I like Cider. It’s sweeter than anything else we’ve had today. It’s crisp, refreshing, and you still get that Guiness richness going on. This is a nice combo. Shane isn’t a big fan of cider, but he liked this one actually. Shane gave it a 7, I gave it an 8, and Ryan gave it an 8.1.
So there you go. Hopefully you have some new ideas for St. Patty’s Day this year.
Big thanks goes out to Shane for bringing in a ton of awesome food to go with all this Irish Beer. He brought everything: Taco Pizza, Burger/Bacon Pizza, Fish Sandwich, Wings, Onion Rings, Chipotle Chicken Wrap, Blue Cheese Stuff Burger, Bacon Stuffed Burger. I feel like I’m leaving something out. Let’s just say, what ever beer you choose this St. Patty’s Day, one of these will go really well with your beverage of choice.
