On Tap is brought to you by Rosati’s Pizza, 701 S. Gregory, Urbana.

This week we welcome DJ Squish (formerly Sissy) as a member of the On Tap crew.  She add her beer geek knowledge to the crew.

This time around we dive into Fuel Cafe from Lakefront Brewery out of Milwaukee, Wisconsin.  This is touted as a stout brewed with coffee.  This one should has a little something for everyone.  Ryan and I like stouts, Shane liked coffee, and Squish likes coffee stouts.

I think Ryan summed it up best when he said this beer smells like a hangover.  After a night of too many beers and someone started coffee but let it burn in the pot… kind of smells like that.  That’s not a bad thing by any means.  It pours super dark.  It’s got a medium mouth feel and good body throughout.  To me, the coffee dominates the flavor.  The stout aspects were barely present.  This is what kind of cooled Ryan and I and even Squish to this one.  Squish said it felt more like a brown with coffee.  Shane on the other hand loved the coffee forward flavor.

My Rating:  5.5

Ryan’s Rating: 5.0

Squish’s Rating:  6.75

Shane’s Rating:  8.0

Shane surprised us by pairing this one with Tiramisu.  So grab some Fuel Cafe and get some Tiramisu delivered.  Enjoy.
