I’ll admit.  I was totally intrigued by the name “Cave Ale” on the Pure Malt Cave Ale from Potosi. It conjured up images of cool, crisp, dark, beer that was mystical and mysterious.  Oddly, it doesn’t have any mystical properties, but it does pack a 6.5% ABV, so it’s got that going for it.  Quite frankly, I had never heard of a Cave Ale before.  Turns out I should have paid attention to the “Pure Malt” portion.  It was very malty, which isn’t a bad thing.  It poured a nice ambery color, had a nice caramelly malty nose to it, and drank a bit sweet with a dominant malt overtone.  Overall, this was pretty good.  Ryan and I both gave it a 6.0.

Since Shane was out, we paired this up with their new Crispy Chicken Shoe, which is their take on a Horseshoe with their new fried chicken.  Mmmmmm.
