12-hour April Food’s Day broadcast to support Eastern Illinois Foodbank

URBANA, IL (Chambana Today) – Tomorrow marks the much-anticipated 12 Hour April Food’s Day Broadcast, set to run from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. in support of the Eastern Illinois Foodbank. The event, which will air live from The Yard on Broadway in Urbana, will feature three live breaks every hour, hosted by a rotating group of on-air personalities from 94.5 The Mix, WIXY 100.3,  and WIXY Classic.

The schedule is as follows:

  • 6-9 a.m.: Konner (94.5 The Mix)
  • 9 a.m.-12 p.m.: Callie (94.5 The Mix)
  • 12-2 p.m.: Duane (WIXY and WIXY Classic)
  • 2-4 p.m.: Nicole (WIXY Classic)
  • 4-6 p.m.: Dug (94.5 The Mix)

Eastern Illinois Foodbank is an essential organization in the fight against hunger, serving 21 counties across Eastern Illinois and covering over 16,300 square miles. With over 143,000 people facing food insecurity at any given time, the Foodbank works with a network of food pantries, shelters, and soup kitchens to distribute vital meals.

  • In the past year, the Foodbank provided 9.7 million meals, including 2.1 million pounds of produce, to nearly 200 local agencies.
  • Through partnerships like Feeding Our Kids and Food 4 Kids, the Foodbank distributed 89,000 backpacks of food to schoolchildren to combat weekend hunger.
  • The Foodmobile program helped deliver over 665,000 meals to rural and underserved areas.
  • Last year, the Foodbank’s fleet traveled more than 181,200 miles, ensuring that food reaches those in need across the region.
  • 1 in 6 children in Eastern Illinois currently face food insecurity, with child food insecurity rising by nearly 40% since 2019.
