URBANA, IL (Chambana Today) – A holiday tradition returns to Urbana Saturday, December 14th, as the annual lighting of Candlestick Lane kicks off the season. The opening ceremony is set for Saturday at 6 p.m. on Candlestick Lane, located between Cottage Grove and Philo Road, just south of Washington Street.

From 6 – 7 p.m., the street will be open to foot traffic only, allowing visitors to soak in the magic of the moment. Neighborhood children will carry LED lights in a parade through the decorated homes. After the opening ceremony, road barricades will be removed at 7 p.m., and the street will reopen to vehicles.

Since its inception, Candlestick Lane has welcomed over a quarter of a million families, making it a cherished holiday destination. Candlestick Lane will remain lit nightly from dusk until 10 p.m., starting December 14th and continuing through December 31st.
