CHAMPAIGN COUNTY, Ill. (Chambana Today) — A community organization in Champaign County, DREAAM, has been making significant strides in its efforts to combat crime and support at-risk youth. Over the weekend, the group showcased the progress of its “Hope for the Future” program, which focuses on reducing violence and providing crucial resources for those in need.

The initiative, which combines community violence intervention strategies with victim advocacy, is designed to make neighborhoods safer and more supportive for local residents. In partnership with the Urbana Police Department, DREAAM has focused on high-crime areas, working directly with residents to address the root causes of violence.

In addition to violence prevention, participants in the program receive support in mental health, mentoring, financial literacy, and life coaching—all aimed at helping individuals build a more positive future.

The efforts of DREAAM are part of a broader movement in Champaign County to invest in community-driven solutions to social challenges. As the organization continues to grow and evolve, its work remains a key part of the county’s strategy for addressing crime and supporting the well-being of its most vulnerable residents.
