Champaign Fire Department extinguished basement fire on Hessel Blvd

CHAMPAIGN, IL (Chambana Today) — The Champaign Fire Department responded to a fire at a single-family home in the 200 block of Hessel Blvd. on Wednesday, February 18, at 6:22 p.m. Firefighters quickly extinguished the fire, which had started in the basement of the single-story home. Upon arrival, crews observed light smoke coming from the structure and immediately began battling the blaze with a single hose line.

Fortunately, no injuries were reported among the firefighters or the occupants. However, the residents of the home will be displaced as a result of the fire. Fire investigators remain on the scene, and the cause of the fire has not yet been determined.
