Champaign Fire Department extinguishes fire in single-family home on Wednesday

CHAMPAIGN, IL (Chambana Today) — At around 1:57 p.m. on Wednesday, April 1, the Champaign Fire Department responded to a fire in a single-family home in the 500 block of East Beardsley Avenue.

Firefighters responded to a report of smoke coming from the roof of the home, and were able to quickly extinguish the fire. Once on the scene, crews found light smoke coming from the rear of the home and a growing fire inside. Firefighters extended multiple hose lines and were able to keep the fire contained to the back of the building.

The cause of this fire has not been determined as investigators remain on scene conducting their investigation. There were no firefighter injuries reported, and the occupants were not home at the time of the fire.
