CHAMPAIGN, IL (Chambana Today) — It’s been a great summer for Champaign Jewelers — and owner Kari Smith says they’re just getting started.

After attending three major jewelry shows across the country — including one in Las Vegas, where Smith joked it was “8 million degrees” — the team at Champaign Jewelers is bringing back fresh pieces and exciting designer collections to share with customers.

“We saw so many amazing new designers,” Smith said. “We’re always looking for the latest and greatest because we want our showcases to be filled with fun, unique jewelry that people haven’t seen anywhere else.”

Among the standout finds was a renewed spotlight on August birthstones. While the traditional choice, Peridot, continues to sparkle with its signature lime-green “Mountain Dew” hue, Smith is especially excited about Spinel, a lesser-known but equally dazzling alternative gemstone.

“Spinel is one of my favorite gemstones,” she said. “It comes in a range of colors — lavender, blue, pink, red, purple — and it’s durable enough for everyday wear. A great choice for anyone who wants something both beautiful and practical.”

Creative Brunches Bring Custom Jewelry Ideas to Life

Champaign Jewelers isn’t just about finding the perfect piece — it’s about creating it. Once a month, the store hosts a free design brunch, inviting customers to collaborate on custom jewelry projects in a relaxed, creative setting.

“There’s no pressure, just snacks, ideas, and great conversation,” Smith explained. “Whether you want to reimagine a family heirloom or design something completely new, we’ll help you sketch it, model it on the computer, or just dream it up.”

Designers are on hand to help, with everything from colored pencils to CAD software available for bringing each customer’s unique vision to life.

Back-to-School Bash Coming August 23

To help ring in the new school year, Champaign Jewelers is throwing a Back-to-School party on August 23. The event will feature specials on permanent jewelry and the latest D.E. Berkeley beaded bracelets in popular school colors.

“If you need orange and blue for the Illini, or your local high school colors, we’ve got you covered,” said Smith. “It’s a great way to show some school pride with a little sparkle.”

Stay Connected with Champaign Jewelers

Smith encourages customers to follow Champaign Jewelers on Facebook and Instagram for updates on events, new jewelry lines, and design brunches. Appointments for the brunches can also be booked directly through the store’s website.

“You can even shop online, then swing by for in-store pickup,” Smith added. “And if it’s a gift, we’re happy to wrap it for you — no problem.”
