CHAMPAIGN, IL (Chambana Today) — The Salvation Army of Champaign County will honor local volunteers Tuesday evening during its annual volunteer appreciation celebration.

The event is scheduled from 7 to 8 p.m. tonight at the Salvation Army Red Shield Center on North Market Street. The celebration recognizes individuals and community partners who have dedicated their time, talents, and resources to support Salvation Army programs throughout the year.

While the organization’s Red Kettle campaign has concluded for the season, Salvation Army officials say the commitment of local volunteers continues year-round and plays a critical role in serving neighbors in need across Champaign County.

Several awards will be presented during the ceremony, including Volunteer of the Year, Community Partner of the Year, Most Funds Raised, Loyal Longevity, Heroes, and Legacy, among others. The honors highlight a wide range of service, from long-term dedication to outstanding community collaboration.

Salvation Army representatives say the annual event is an opportunity to publicly thank volunteers and partners whose efforts help sustain programs that address hunger, housing insecurity, and other critical needs in the community.
