CHAMPAIGN, IL (Chambana Today) — The City of Champaign is inviting residents to help shape the future of the community by participating in its upcoming City Council goal-setting process. The Council will meet on October 7 and 8 to set priorities for the 2025–2027 term, and public input is a key part of the discussion.

Residents are encouraged to complete a brief survey available through September 9 on the city’s public engagement platform, Engage Champaign (engagechampaign.org). Paper copies are also available at the Champaign City Building, located at 102 N. Neil St.

The survey asks two main questions:

  • What do you value most about Champaign?

  • What should the City prioritize or improve over the next two years?

City officials emphasize that all responses will be reviewed and shared with the Council ahead of the October meetings. The input will help guide discussions and ensure the Council’s goals reflect the values and priorities of the community.

After each Council election, the goal-setting process helps align city operations, staffing, and resources with the Council’s vision. The resulting goals influence everything from infrastructure improvements to community programs and public safety initiatives. Residents with questions about the survey or the process are encouraged to contact the City Manager’s Office at 217-403-8710.
