DANVILLE, Ill. (Chambana Today) — The Danville Library Foundation is joining forces with Newell Township to bring the joy of reading closer to home through a new network of Little Free Libraries.

The initiative, announced Thursday, will place small, free book-sharing boxes throughout the community. Jim Wilson with Newell Township is providing the Little Free Libraries, while the Danville Library Foundation will keep them stocked with books for all ages.

The libraries operate on a simple principle — “Take a Book, Leave a Book” — encouraging neighbors to share and exchange stories while fostering literacy and connection.

“This outreach project supports our mission to make books accessible to everyone,” said Natalie Duncan, Executive Director of the Danville Library Foundation. “It’s about creating opportunities for learning and bringing people together through reading.”

Residents are encouraged to visit and participate when Little Free Libraries begin appearing in their neighborhoods.
