DANVILLE, IL (Chambana Today) — A Danville man is facing multiple charges following a late-night police pursuit that ended with the recovery of suspected narcotics and cash, according to the Danville Police Department.

Officers attempted to conduct a traffic stop around 10:34 p.m. on April 2 near East Main Street and Pennsylvania Avenue for reported traffic violations. Police say the driver failed to stop, leading officers on a pursuit through several city streets.

During the chase, items were allegedly thrown from the vehicle. Officers later recovered suspected illegal substances, including cocaine, ecstasy and cannabis, along with an alcoholic beverage.

The pursuit ended near English and Jackson streets with assistance from the Vermilion County Sheriff’s Department, where the vehicle was safely stopped.

Police identified the driver as 39-year-old Demitruis T.D. Davis, who was taken into custody without incident. Authorities say a search also uncovered a large amount of U.S. currency. The vehicle was impounded as part of the ongoing investigation.

Davis is facing multiple charges, including delivery of methamphetamine, delivery of cocaine, delivery of cannabis, aggravated fleeing or attempting to elude police, and driving while license revoked.

No injuries or property damage were reported. The investigation remains ongoing, according to police.
