Danville Police investigating death of man found near Stoney Creek

DANVILLE, Ill. (Chambana Today) — The Danville Police Department is investigating the death of a 45-year-old local man who was found unresponsive Wednesday afternoon near Stoney Creek.

Police were called at approximately 4:22 p.m. to the 400 block of East Williams Street after a report of a man down. Officers arrived to find the man lying beside the creek, where he was pronounced dead at the scene.

According to police, there were no obvious signs of trauma or foul play. The Vermilion County Coroner’s Office will conduct an autopsy to determine the cause of death. Authorities are withholding the man’s identity until his family can be notified.
