Eastbound Kirby Avenue to close August 18 for tree removal work near U of I

CHAMPAIGN, IL (Chambana Today) — Eastbound lanes of Kirby Avenue between Fourth Street and Goodwin Avenue will be closed on Monday, August 18, 2025, as the University of Illinois conducts scheduled tree removal in the area.

The closure will begin at 7 a.m. and is expected to last until 7 p.m., weather permitting. During this time, all eastbound traffic will be detoured. Westbound lanes will remain open and unaffected.

The university said the work is part of ongoing campus landscape management and safety efforts. Drivers are encouraged to use caution in the area and follow all posted signs and detours.
