After hearing from a resounding 97% of past attendees, Chaz Ebert and Nate Kohn are excited to announce that Ebertfest will return for its final year in 2026. The event will take place from April 17–19, 2026, at the Virginia Theatre in Champaign for a special two-day festival.
This year’s edition will feature eight carefully selected films, special guest appearances, and, of course, the lively, thoughtful Q&As that have made Ebertfest a cherished tradition for movie lovers. It’s an opportunity to revisit the magic of the festival, share memories, and celebrate the films and conversations that have defined this unique event for over two decades.
“We’re thrilled to come together one last time to celebrate the art of cinema, reconnect with old friends, and make lasting memories,” said Chaz Ebert. “This festival is a chance to close the chapter in a way that honors everything that made Ebertfest so special.”
For those planning to attend, it’s recommended to secure hotel reservations early, as the Hyatt may be fully booked due to another local event. If you need an alternative accommodation, transportation to the Virginia Theatre will be arranged for attendees.
