Funeral Consumers Alliance of Champaign County to host forum on faith traditions surrounding death

CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (Chambana Today) – The Funeral Consumers Alliance of Champaign County will hold a forum on November 9th from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. at the Champaign Public Library in Robeson Rooms A and B. The forum will feature speakers from several faith communities, who will discuss their traditions and rituals related to death and dying.

The speakers include Rev. Terrance L. Thomas of Bethel, Amy Felty from the Baha’i Community, Jessica Kopolow from the Chevra Kadisha (Jewish Burial Society), Br. Humzah from the Central Illinois Mosque & Islamic Center, and Barbara Kessel from the UC Friends Meeting.

The forum will be moderated by Dr. Anne Robin, a semi-retired family physician and trustee at the University YMCA. The event will also include time for audience questions. The public is encouraged to attend this enlightening discussion on the diverse ways different faiths approach the final stages of life.
