URBANA, Ill. (Chambana Today) — For the ninth straight year, Heartstrong Meals is gearing up to ensure no Champaign County family goes without a Thanksgiving meal. The organization announced its 2025 Thanksgiving Big Give, a major community initiative that will distribute 2,000 free, complete holiday meal kits on Saturday, November 22 at Quest United Methodist Church.

Meal preparation, packing, and logistics will run from November 20–22, with hundreds of volunteers expected to support the three-day effort.

Founded by community advocate Angela Bradley, Heartstrong Meals remains focused on expanding access to fresh, affordable foods in neighborhoods most affected by food insecurity.

How Families Can Register

Households in need may reserve a meal kit and choose a pickup time using the online form: https://forms.gle/Txkh2ba7XtKJR7wx6

Each family receives a full holiday package, including:

  • A turkey or turkey breast
  • Holiday sides
  • Fresh produce
  • Pantry staples

Limited delivery options are available for families facing transportation or mobility challenges.

Volunteers Needed: Nov. 20–22

Organizers note that volunteer support is the greatest need heading into event week. Opportunities include:

The Big Give is funded entirely through community generosity. Nearly $50,000 has been raised so far, with Heartstrong Meals aiming for an $80,000 total to cover food purchases, delivery supplies, and event logistics.

A contribution of $44 provides a complete Thanksgiving meal for one family.
