ROSEMONT, Ill. (Chambana Today) — Illinois women’s basketball standout Berry Wallace has been named to the Big Ten Weekly Honor Roll following a dominant opening week in which she led the Fighting Illini to a 2–0 start.

In her first week as a focal point of opposing defenses, the sophomore forward averaged 24.5 points, 9.0 rebounds, and 2.5 assists while shooting 60.7% from the field, 40% from three-point range, and 76.5% from the free-throw line.

Wallace opened the season with a breakout performance against Southeast Missouri State, posting career highs of 27 points and 11 rebounds in a 91–67 victory. The Pickerington, Ohio native followed that effort with 22 points, seven rebounds, and two assists in Sunday’s win over Illinois State, committing zero turnovers while shooting 7-for-10 from the floor and 8-for-11 from the line.

The recognition marks the first Big Ten weekly honor of Wallace’s collegiate career.

Wallace and the Illini will hit the road for the first time this season on Friday, Nov. 14, when they face Oregon State at 8 p.m. CT.
