SPRINGFIELD, IL — The Illinois State Fair is embracing the future with the announcement that it will transition to digital ticketing for the 2026 season, following a successful trial run in 2025. This modernization effort is set to provide fairgoers with a more convenient, secure, and streamlined entry process, making access to the fair easier than ever before.

“We’re stepping into the future,” said Illinois Department of Agriculture Director Jerry Costello II. “Digital ticketing represents our commitment to modernizing the fairgoer experience through technology. It will streamline access, enhance security, and position the Illinois State Fair in a way that meets the expectations of today’s families.”

What Fairgoers Need to Know for 2026:

  • Download in advance: Guests are encouraged to download their tickets before arriving at the fairgrounds or save them to their mobile phone’s e-wallet for easy, quick entry.

  • Special passes: For those purchasing Mega Passes or Jumbo Passes, passes will need to be redeemed at the Illinois State Fair administration offices (located in the Emmerson Building) for a photo identification card. Redemption will begin in June 2026. Note that these passes will not be replaced if lost or stolen.

Rebecca Clark, Illinois State Fair Manager, expressed excitement about the new system, stating, “We’re thrilled to bring this technology to our fairgoers. Digital ticketing is already the standard at most concert and entertainment venues across the country, and we’re excited to offer that same convenience here. Fairgoers will no longer need to worry about losing paper tickets — they can simply access them right from their mobile devices.”

The shift to digital tickets is part of the State Fair’s ongoing commitment to efficiency and guest satisfaction. The new system aims to help serve visitors more efficiently, while still preserving the warm, welcoming atmosphere that the fair is known for.

Mark your calendars for the 2026 Illinois State Fair, which will take place from August 13–23, 2026 in Springfield. To stay up to date with the latest news and announcements, be sure to follow the fair on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.
