GIBSON CITY, Ill. (Chambana Today) — The Illinois State Police (ISP) are actively searching for 70-year-old David Jordan, who is wanted in connection with the shooting of two law enforcement officers early Saturday morning in Gibson City.

According to ISP’s Division of Criminal Investigation Zone 5, officers with the Gibson City Police Department and the Ford County Sheriff’s Department responded to the 100 block of Ash Street around 2:31 a.m. on August 9 for a report of a naked man, later identified as Jordan.

As officers attempted to make contact with Jordan at his residence, both a Gibson City police officer and a Ford County deputy were struck by gunfire. ISP confirmed neither officer discharged their weapon during the encounter.

Jordan remains at large and is considered armed and dangerous. Authorities are urging the public not to approach him. Anyone with information is asked to call 911 immediately.

ISP is also asking local residents and businesses to review their surveillance footage from the time of the incident to the present and report any sightings of Jordan. Tips can also be submitted via the ISP Crime Tip website.

All suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
