MONTICELLO, Ill. (Chambana Today) — February’s Growing Community program will offer an inside look at the work of the Piatt County Soil and Water Conservation District.

The program is presented by DeWitt and Piatt Master Gardeners.

Locally Led Conservation with Piatt County Soil and Water Conservation District will be at noon on Feb. 17 at the Piatt County Extension Office, 210 South Market Street in Monticello. Attendees will learn about the vital conservation effort this county organization leads to support and protect natural resources.

The Piatt County Soil and Water Conservation District provides education, leadership, and assistance to the community to protect and promote the wise use of soil, water, air, plant, and animal resources. In partnership with county, state, and federal agencies, PCSWD offers technical and financial support to landowners and agricultural producers interested in conservation practices. The district also provides educational outreach, native resources, recycling services, and other conservation-related programs.

“We invite the community to learn about the goals for this organization and other conservation partners and discover how to get involved in locally led conservation efforts,” says Horticulture Program coordinator Beth Miglin.

To register for this free program, visit go.illinois.edu/Growing by February 16.
