URBANA, IL (Chambana Today) – Julio Cucul Bol, the man accused of causing a deadly hit-and-run crash in Urbana last month, has been extradited from Texas and is now in Champaign County, where he faces multiple charges. Bol, who was arrested by U.S. Marshals in Milford, Texas, will be arraigned on Tuesday, followed by a detention hearing on Wednesday.

Bol, originally identified under the alias Juan Jahaziel Saenz-Suarez, faces charges including two counts of reckless homicide with a motor vehicle, two counts of failure to report an accident involving death, and one count of aggravated DUI causing death. Urbana Police reported that the fatal crash occurred on the morning of January 19, when Bol’s SUV rear-ended a car stopped at a red light near Coler Avenue, close to Carle Hospital. Two women, 20-year-old Katherine Abraham from Glenview and 21-year-old Chloe Polzin from Deerfield, died in the collision. Abraham was in town visiting friends at the University of Illinois at the time of the crash.

According to authorities, Bol fled the scene following the crash and attempted to escape the country. The U.S. Marshals Service tracked him down to a bus station in Milford, Texas, where he was boarding a bus bound for Mexico. Bol had used the alias “Juan Jahaziel Saenz-Suarez” along with falsified documents identifying him as a Mexican national. However, Bol later admitted to using the alias and revealed that he is, in fact, a citizen of Guatemala.

The extradition to Champaign County marks a significant development in the case, and Bol will now face the legal consequences of the fatal crash.
