CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (Chambana Today) — Parkland College is joining a statewide effort to help fight food insecurity through the Illinois Community Colleges Feed the Need Campus Food Drive. Two campus organizations — the Student Government Association (SGA) and the Parkland College Police Department — are leading this year’s initiatives.

The SGA has placed green collection boxes throughout campus for community members to donate nonperishable food items during regular college hours. The Feed the Need drive runs through Monday, December 1.

The Parkland College Police Department will host its annual Stuff the Squad, Feed the Need and Serve and Protect event on Wednesday, November 12, from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. at Community Education, 1315 N. Mattis Ave. Donations will be distributed to the Wesley Food Pantry and the Eastern Illinois Food Bank.

In addition, Parkland’s Student Life and Child Development Center are organizing a diaper drive from November 10–14, collecting unopened diapers of any size, baby wipes, and pull-ups. Donations can be dropped off at the Student Union welcome desk, Student Life office (U111), or the Child Development Center (G building).

For more information, contact Student Life at stulife@parkland.edu, Public Safety at publicsafety@parkland.edu, or the Child Development Center at 217-373-3777.
