Parkland College to hold Veterans Day ceremony to honor veterans

CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (Chambana Today) — Parkland College is inviting the District 505 community to attend its 2025 Veterans Day ceremony later this month.

Guests are welcome to the Student Union on Tuesday, November 11 at 11 a.m. to join the college in honoring those who serve in the U.S. military and the country’s veterans. The ceremony will include the singing of the National Anthem by Parkland alumni Joseph Kirby, a welcome by president Pam Lau, and the presentation of campus veterans and order of service by Admissions Associate and Navy veteran Maurice Taylor.

Jason Sakowski, a Parkland alumni and U.S. Marines veteran, will serve as the featured event speaker. Guests will also observe a moment of silence with the playing of “Taps.”

This year’s Veterans Day observance is sponsored by the Student Veterans Association at Parkland (SVAP).
