CHAMPAIGN, IL (Chambana Today) — Reports of a possible upcoming federal immigration enforcement presence in Champaign-Urbana began circulating on social media this week, prompting concern among some community members and advocacy groups.

Former congressional candidate Dylan Blaha posted on Facebook that several immigrant-serving organizations and advocates had received information from what he described as “reliable sources” indicating a significant presence of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents could arrive in the area as early as Monday.

The post urged residents to review emergency plans with their families and said additional information would be shared as it becomes available.

As of now, no official confirmation of imminent ICE activity has been issued by local law enforcement or government agencies. In past instances, local officials have said they often receive reports of ICE sightings through community channels but are not always notified directly by federal authorities.

Advocacy groups in Champaign-Urbana have previously organized rapid response efforts to verify such reports and provide resources to affected residents.

Community leaders typically encourage individuals to rely on verified information and to understand their legal rights in the event of any federal immigration enforcement activity.
