CHICAGO, Ill. (Chambana Today) — A southern Illinois Lottery player is feeling like pure gold after winning the $1 million top prize on a $1,000,000 Holiday Gold scratch-off ticket.

“I’m a big fan of the holiday-themed lottery tickets,” said the lucky winner, who chose to remain anonymous. “As soon as this year’s holiday tickets were available, my mom and I went to the store to see what they looked like, and I decided to try my luck on a $20 one.”

The winning ticket was purchased at Sav-On Liquor & Wine, located inside a Phillips 66 gas station at 10040 Lincoln Trail in Fairview Heights.

The retailer will also receive a $10,000 bonus for selling the winning ticket.

The lucky winner said they plan to take their time deciding what to do with the newfound fortune but admitted that the win has already made this holiday season one to remember.
