THE ROAD REPORT: More closures announced for Champaign-Urbana; plan accordingly

CHAMPAIGN-URBANA, IL (Chambana Today) – The Road Report is a helpful resource to keep your travels smooth and trouble-free. All projects are weather permitting.

Annual Paving Project

Starting Monday, September 15, crews will begin milling and paving the following locations as part of the 2025 Annual Paving Project:
• Fifth Street from Bradley Avenue to Washington Street
• Wright Street from Columbia Avenue to Church Street
• Holts Drive from Phillips Drive to Fourth Street
• Columbia Avenue from Fourth Street to Wright Street
• Vine Street from Fourth Street to Wright Street
The work will begin with milling on Monday, September 15. One lane in each direction will be open to through traffic; however, motorists are urged to take alternate routes to avoid delays. Work at these locations is scheduled to be complete by Friday, October 3.

Sangamon Drive Road Closure (between Western Avenue and Cambridge Drive)

In order to complete a sanitary sewer repair at 1068 Sangamon Drive, Berg Tanks will close Sangamon Drive between Western Avenue and Cambridge Drive.  The closure will begin today, Wednesday, September 3, and will reopen on Monday, September 8, weather permitting.Bradley Avenue Improvements Project (Alpine Drive to Duncan Road)

Anthony Drive Road Closure (between Dobbins Drive and Campbell Drive)

William Charles Construction and IDOT will close Anthony Drive between Dobbins Drive and Campbell Drive. Both eastbound and westbound Anthony Drive traffic will be detoured in the area.  The closure will occur between the hours of 7 a.m. and 6 p.m., starting on Wednesday, September 10, and will end on Friday, October 3, 2025

Garden Hills Phase 3 Project (Garden Hills Drive)

Starting Tuesday, May 27, Garden Hills Drive will be fully closed to vehicular traffic between the south leg of the Paula Drive/Garden Hills Drive intersection through where Garden Hills Drive dead ends just north of the train tracks. During construction through this segment, residents will not be able to enter or leave their driveways. Residents will be able to park on the street where street parking is available, but not within the construction zone. Pedestrian access to all homes will be maintained throughout construction.
