Urbana fatal crash suspect flees the scene, captured in Texas

URBANA, IL (Chambana Today) – A tragic car crash occurred on Sunday, January 19, leading to the death of two individuals.

At 1:55 a.m., a Honda Civic had stopped at the intersection of University and Coler for a red light. Seconds later, a Mitsubishi SUV struck the Civic at high speeds and caused serious damage to both vehicles and persons inside. The driver of the SUV then fled the scene on foot. The fatal crash took the life of Chloe Polzin and Katherine Abraham.

However, today, around 9:26 a.m., United States Marshals based in Dallas, Texas located suspect Juan Jahaziel Saenz-Suarez. Saenz-Suarez is a 27-year-old Mexican national who resided in Urbana, Illinois. He was identified as the owner of the SUV and was located in Milford, Texas while he was riding an El Expreso bus headed for Matamoros, Mexico. The arrest warrant was issued on Monday, January 20, 2025 after he was identified.

Saenz-Suarez was charged with Reckless Homicide and leaving the scene of a fatal injury crash.
