Woman injured in early morning shooting in Danville

DANVILLE, IL (Chambana Today) — A 25-year-old woman was injured in an early morning shooting Sunday in Danville, according to police.

Officers were dispatched at approximately 3:36 a.m. to the 1600 block of Beechwood Drive after receiving reports of shots fired. When they arrived, they located a Danville woman suffering from a gunshot wound to her leg.

She was transported by ambulance to a local hospital, where she was treated for injuries that authorities said were not life-threatening.

Investigators determined that a large gathering had taken place in the area shortly before the shooting occurred. Police have not announced any arrests, and no suspects are currently in custody.

The Danville Police Department said the investigation remains ongoing as detectives review witness statements and available video footage.

Authorities are asking anyone with information about the incident to contact Danville Police or Vermilion County Crime Stoppers.
