A Little Bit of Awesome: 11/6/19

A cop in Chicago ran a 15K race in full SWAT gear on Sunday, and had to stop 500 feet from the finish line to do CPR on a woman who had a heart attack. Then after he saved her life, he finished the race, got down on one knee, and proposed to his girlfriend. Check out his full story RIGHT HERE.

A 27-year-old guy with autism recently needed a heart transplant in Georgia, but didn’t have any family to care for him after the surgery. So he got pulled from the transplant list until one of his nurses offered to become his legal guardian. Her name is Lori Wood. He moved in with her, and had surgery this summer. She says it wasn’t a hard decision for her. She felt like it was something she had to do, even though she was already a single mom.

A speech pathologist created a soundboard that helps her communicate with her dog. The board is on the floor and has over 20 “sound buttons” that the dog can step on to let her know what it wants. The dog tells her when it wants to eat, go outside, take a nap . . . things like that.
