I’m at Gen Con! Whoot!

In case you hadn’t noticed, I let my geek flag fly whenever I feel like it.  Now is a perfect example.  I’m over in Indianapolis for the Best Four Days In Gaming, better known as GenCon.  The con officially runs Thursday 8/15 to Sunday 8/18, but we kicked things off tonight with the tapping of the keg of the Official GenCon Beer, Flagon Slayer from Sun King Brewery.  This is a very cool event.  It’s in the heart of downtown.  There are food trucks lined up and down the block, there’s a stage with the band Five Year Mission playing.  That’s a heck of way to start things off.

I met with Clay from Sun King Brewery to drink some Flagon Slayer, talk a little Sun King, how they got started, how they hooked up with GenCon and more.  It was a great time.  If you’re ever in Indy, or just in Indiana for that matter, look for Sun King beers.  Good stuff from a good bunch of folks.  Clay and I also recorded a special edition of ON TAP that you can hear Friday after 5p on 92.5 The Chief.  I’ll also post the full ON TAP interview here on the website in the normal ON TAP section on Friday as well.

Me and Clay from Sun King

If you’ve never heard of GenCon or thought that GenCon was just for geeks like Sheldon on Big Bang Theory, think again.  There is so much going on here it’s kind of crazy.  This was a great event, and it’s just the night before the con gets started.  There’s games, games of all kinds; Role Playing Games, Board Games, Video Games, Card Games, there’s art, and music and just plain fun.  If you’re interested, come on over.  It’s running all weekend and you can get a one day pass.  If you’ve got kids, come over Sunday and get a family pass.

So here’s to the Best Four Days In Gaming, and some really fantastic locally brewed beer.
