The Scoop for Feb. 25, 2019

The Oscars were last night, and honestly, the highlight for me, was Queen opening the show. Ok, so I didn’t really watch much after that. But how was it for the band?
According to Brian May, it was exciting. You know when you kick off the Oscars with Queen, it’s going to be downhill from there. I mean what were they thinking? People would see Queen rockin’ the opening and think, “Man, if this is the start, the next four hours is going to be amazing!” No. No one thought that.

Ok, so there may have been at least one other cool Oscar moment last night. Sam Jackson was able to make the announcement for Best Adapted Screenplay actually fun. And yes, here’s the video so you don’t have to scrub through four hours of your DVR just to find this three seconds of fun.

So Peter Frampton has announced his farewell tour. He’s not saying goodbye because he wants to. Nope. He has a rare musular disease, IBM. It actually can affect the flexor muscles in his fingers, which, as a guitar player, isn’t great. So this may indeed be his farewell tour, it hasn’t affected his playing yet. But, if the drug trials go well, his next tour could be, in his words, “The miracle tour.” Let’s hope those trials go well. We need more Frampton in our world.

BONUS SCOOPAGE:
So there were a slew of awards this weekend, and a slew of celebs. But maybe the brightest of them all was Pip. Pip is Glenn Close’s Havanese. She brought him with her as her date to the Spirit awards. Maybe the best thing to happen to any award show this season.
