Angelina Jolie is firing back at Vanity Fair after they described a controversial “game” used during the casting process of her latest film, First They Killed My Father. Vanity Fair depicted an audition exercise casting directors used with impoverished child actors. The story claimed money was put on a table and auditioning children were asked to think of something they needed the money for, and then to snatch it away. The story said the director would pretend to catch the child, and the child would have to come up with a lie.
But Andgelina says hogwash: “I am upset that a pretend exercise in an improvisation, from an actual scene in the film, has been written about as if it was a real scenario. The suggestion that real money was taken from a child during an audition is false and upsetting. I would be outraged myself if this had happened.” She added that “every measure was taken to ensure the safety, comfort and well-being of the children on the film starting from the auditions through production to the present.”
I gotta be honest, I’m not sure what’s going on in this story… Here’s what I got out of this whole deal:
Vanity Fair: Angelina, your movie is being a jerk
Angelina: No we’re not!
